Here at BillerudKorsnäs, we want to combine next generation ideas with our accumulated expertise to challenge conventional packaging for a sustainable future. This requires a good blend of different skills and experience. BillerudKorsnäs has a wealth of experience built up over many years, and we want to fuse that with the perspective and innovation of the next generation. We have poured all our skills and knowledge of sustainable production into our trainee programme as part of our long-term focus on talent management.
BillerudKorsnäs one-year trainee program started in September 2016 where a total of 15 trainees from different backgrounds where recruited for various future positions within the company.
The BillerudKorsnäs trainee programme is designed to give the participants the best possible grounding in and understanding of the company’s business. By highlighting the links between production, marketing and sales, we want to create opportunities for personal development, where different abilities are put to the test and challenging traditional notions is encouraged. Alongside sustainable development, the programme has a strong focus on internationalisation.
The trainees are familiarised with the entire production process from start to finish, as well as being schooled in the importance of adapting production to global demands for change and development at every level.
The programme also aims to provide a solid understanding of the bigger picture in terms of the business model and offers excellent opportunities to build up a large and valuable network, paving the way for a future career in the company.
BillerudKorsnäs’ trainees are posted across Sweden at our production centres and at head office in Solna. The trainees are mostly stationed in their home department, where the focus is on an introduction to and knowledge about the business, the department’s position within the business and the needs of the prospective job. The group of trainees conducts regular visits to some of our production centres and the head office in Solna to find out about BillerudKorsnäs as a whole. In addition, the trainees are given the chance to work a shift on the production line and to be stationed for a month at one of BillerudKorsnäs’ sales offices outside Sweden, in locations such as Barcelona, Shanghai or Dubai. Together with an equal number of hand-picked employees within BillerudKorsnäs, the trainees also attend a number of training sessions on themes that include leadership, strategy, internationalisation, financial targets, innovation and business development. The hope is that BillerudKorsnäs’ employees and the trainees will be inspired and learn a lot from each other, so that they can work together to ensure success in their various areas.
BillerudKorsnäs operates its trainee program according to demand and the program is part of our efforts to ensure a supply of strategic expertise. The application is closed for the program that starts 1 of September 2016. Next start is not yet planned, However, traditionally we have started our trainee program every two years.
