In late June, Billerud attended Faraday Innovation Day in Manchester. On the theme of "New opportunities with fiber-based packaging solutions" the Packaging Arena arranged the program and met the British packaging industry and brand owners together with its member companies, Billerud, Korsnäs, Stora Enso and Acreo. Leading companies such as Unilever, Nestle, Mars, United Biscuits, SAB Miller, Walkinshaw and Crown Cork were on the roster and were greatly interested in knowing more about the products of Billerud.
- The event was very well organized with good players who attended and it was a great opportunity for us to put the Billerud trademark in a positive environment where we really got the chance to get in touch with some of the UK's strongest brand owners, says Madelene Breiling, Packaging Development Manager at Billerud.
During the day, a unique opportunity to meet with companies from across the value chain to communicate the benefits of renewable packaging materials was given. Renewable materials are more and more replacing plastic packaging of various types and consumers have become more and more aware of the resistance in the products they consume. That requires greater responsibility and overall control of the entire value chain. I believe that approach has resulted in a more transparent way to collaborate, as the day was a proof of, continues Madelene. At the end of the seminar, she noted that some really interesting leads and smarter packaging ideas could be taken home for further processing.
