Billerud invests MSEK 370 to enhance positions within strategic segments

Billerud has decided to make fundamental upgrades of paper machine no. 7 at Skärblacka and paper machine no. 2 at Gruvön. The purpose is to strengthen the position within important segments. Billerud’s production of MF paper will increasingly be concentrated on PM 2, which in addition to quality improvements will provide more effective and focused production. The quality improvements on PM 2 will primarily benefit the following segments: carrier bags, form & fill, industrial bags, protective envelopes and ream wrap. Within the MG paper product area Billerud will strengthen its positions in the markets for release liner, medical packaging and flexible packaging.

”The market-driven investments we are now making concerning our paper machines is in line with our revised strategy and will help us to further strengthen our positions in our prioritised segments and application areas,” says Per Lindberg, President and CEO of Billerud.

Billerud is one of the leading suppliers of uncoated MG paper and uncoated MF kraft paper in Europe.
