Life cycle assessment
We commission IVL Swedish Environmental Research to perform life cycle assessments of our packaging solutions. The studies compare paper packaging made of our material with corresponding solutions made of plastic – carrier bags, pasta bags, cement sacks and bottles, for example. The studies consider the entire product life cycle: from material pro¬duction to the disposal or recycling of the finished packaging. Click the links below to read the life cycle analyses.

Environmental Product Declarations
Environmental product declarations according to the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) standard make it possible to compare the performance of different products from an environmental perspective throughout their life cycles, and to calculate the environmental impact of the finished packaging products. The declarations present information such as emissions that affect the climate, acidification, the ozone layer and over-fertilization. Resource consumption is also stated. BillerudKorsnäs’ data are verified by an independent third party. See www.environdec.com.
